Inventor Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have a patent to submit?

Yes. Before you submit an idea to us, you must submit a valid patent application first. We will not review any information for an invention unless a patent application has been filed (provisional patent won’t be considering).

Does the NDA (non-disclosure agreement) protect me?

No, if you have a patent pending or patented product, that protects you and nothing in the NDA takes that right away. It’s always good to consult an attorney if you have questions.

What do I need to submit for consideration?

Click the “Submit an Invention” button above. Send us an email with your valid patent, photos of your invention and explanation. You should receive an answer from 6 to 8 weeks.

What is the process?

Your information will go through a review that can last approximately 90 days. If we need more information, we will contact you by telephone or email.

What are Garant’s Basic Criteria Before Reviewing an Invention?

Garant will only consider an invention if:

  • It doesn’t already exist on the market in its present form.
  • It doesn’t require a source of electrical power or motorized energy to function.
  • It is related to gardening, construction, agriculture or snow removal.
