Frequent or sporadic use? Heavy or light loads? Here are some of the features to keep in mind to make sure you buy the wheelbarrow that meets your specific needs.
TRAY CAPACITY
The quantity of earth, sand or other materials to be moved by wheelbarrow determines the tray capacity you need. Wheelbarrows sold by Garant have a capacity of 4, 5, 6 or 8 cubic feet.
TRAY DESIGN AND MATERIALS
Our wheelbarrows have either a polyethylene or a steel tray. Compared to polyethylene, a steel tray is more resistant to wear and tear over the years, but it is also heavier and not rustproof.
Some trays are equipped with reinforcing ribs or feature a seamless design for added resistance. They come in slightly different shapes too. For example, the front of some trays have a funnel design with easy pouring lip.
HANDLE MATERIAL AND DESIGN
Handles are usually made of hardwood or steel. Their length varies between 60 and 64 inches. Choose cushioned grips, which are recommended to make heavy-duty work easier on the hands.
WHEELS
Wheel dimensions vary between 14’’ and 16’’. They are equipped with either with oil lube bushing or ball bearings for better maneuverability. Choice of 2- or 4-ply flat-free tires.
OTHER FEATURES
Wheelbarrows come with a 5/8″ or ¾’’ steel axle, leg stabilizers, H-brace, front braces and reinforcing ribs, all of which add stability and sturdiness to your wheelbarrow.
Inappropriate use caused your wheelbarrow to break? A replacement part may be available to save you from having to buy a new one. See our Replacement Parts Program section.
