In the light of results obtained from the CIRAIG life cycle analysis of its products, Garant adopted a number of new practices to reduce environmental impact related to the manufacturing and commercialization of these products.
Obviously, a snow shovel is in itself a much more ecological choice than a snow blower, for example. Nevertheless, Garant wanted to improve its environmental footprint and the Garant Enviro brand is the result of that decision.
Among its initiatives, Garant negotiated agreements with suppliers of FSC-certified wood from Maine to secure supplies from responsibly managed forests.
In its manufacturing facility, Garant recovers paint powders during production of other tools and reuses them on Garant Enviro products. That explains the variety of colors available in stores: colors vary according to the composition of recuperated paints. That’s the beauty of recycling! Beforehand, unused paint particles were simply disposed of.
Eager to reduce its ecological impact at every level, including merchandising, Garant opted for vegetable-based labels on the tools, the use of hot stamping on handles (instead of labels), and the production of recycled/recyclable/compostable cardboard or wood in-store displays. To create its new range of ecological tools, Garant wanted to take concrete action every step of the way, right into stores. That’s where you’ll find Garant Enviro.
